All the Castelinho38 is today crying and suffering for the departure of TADEO and his mother MARIEL after 5 months spent together. Our FRIENDS, heading south toward Buenos Aires, will be always remembered here and are leaving the biggest SAUDADES not only among the staff as well as our guests. DJs Doug Gray and Mary Byker aka You Smell Nice (and a very special guest DJ from the weekend's TIM FEST) will be setting up camp from 2pm on Sunday 28th October for the first of many happy, lazy, boozy Sundays in the Santa Teresa sunshine at Casa MangoMango.

A bit like a Sunday in London is the idea, but with tastier food, better weather, much more in the way of poolside action and, ergo, less clothing. So not so similar I guess. If that sounds like your cup of Matte, then you can get there before 4pm for cheap entry (R$10 instead of R$15) and a better chance of getting a go at the BBQ (highly recommended)...

A idéia começou com um domingo Londrino no Rio, mas com comida mais  gostosa, melhor clima, muita ação na beira da piscina e menos roupa!  Londres sob o sol carioca.

RETICENCIA new magazine Launch

We had the pleasure to host another photos shooting recently, this time for the front page of a new magazine to be launched at the end of this month called "RETICENCIA". The model in these pictures is Cynthia O Dwyer who was photographed by Alexander Moskow. Further comments are maybe unnecessary....

Domingo no Castelinho38

O projeto INTEGRAL[ação + espaço + linguagem], idealizado pelos artistas Alê Souto, Fernanda Antoun e Alex Topini, e realizado em parceria com o Castelinho 38, chega ao fim da sua primeira edição no dia 21 de outubro, próximo domingo, a partir das 17h.

Para o encerramento, INTEGRAL apresenta, além dos trabalhos de fotografia, pintura e instalação que se encontram expostos, as performances Patchwork de Raphael Couto, Ao Livro de Mágoas, com Fran Junqueira, André Rodrigues e Amanda Bolsas, e Per.Formando, com o grupo 13 Numa Noite. A música fica por conta do projeto Nintendo Diablo, dos djs André Amaral, Icarodátilus e Ricardo Diversi.

Na sala de bem-estar acontece a Mostra INTEGRAL de Vídeos. Reunindo parte da produção atual de artistas visuais e videoartistas, a Mostra, com aproximadamente uma hora, será exibida em looping durante todo o evento, com trabalhos de Alan Rodrigues, Alexandre Sá, Amélia Sampaio, André Sheik, Analu Cunha, Bruno de Carvalho, Célio Jr., Christian Caselli, Cleantho Viana, Cristina Amiran, , Daniela Mattos, Fabiane Borges, Fabio Assuf, Felipe Cataldo, Giordani Maia, Godot Quincas, José de Campos, Khalil Charif, Moana Mayall, Opavivará, Paulo Anomaz, Renata Than, Tato Teixeira e Vandir Govêa.

We had the pleasure to host a wonderfull couple, even better than Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Our Smits, Niki and Xander, are coming from Holland and are now travelling north of Brazil. The very first coincidence is that they are not yet married but still have the same family surname. Second, Xander has the same name of Niki s father and was born the same day/month....
The surprises are not over yet...we have found out that Niki is a very well known writer back home, she writes for the youngest ones, and this is her web page: http://www.nikismit.web-log.nl/

Guest of the month 10/07

MARTINA OTTO has been unanimously elected our Guest of the Month (october 07)
For her kindness, smiles, great attitudes and positive vibes the staff of Castelinho38 felt a strong connection with her since the very beginning. Martina is travelling a lot for business reason and felt at home with our unformal and easy way to host people. Martina was born in Germany and since 1999 works for the United Nations, more exactly for its Enviromental Programme (UNEP). Recently she moved back to Paris, where she already lived for several years in the past, after a mission in Nairobi (Kenya). Thanks to the Nairobi connections she has been reccomended to stay at Castelinho38 during her stay in RIO.



Martina is enjoying the neighbourhod and has taken samba classes, having the best of Rio night life partecipating to live brazilian music show and hanging around street bands. She loved the master suite BOUGAINVILLE at the second floor of the castel, now with a new identification signal. A special thanks to MARTINA in the name of Castelinho38 staff for the great time we have together and congratulation for being elected our GUEST of the MONTH.

Photo Shooting

CASTELINHO38 is a perfect location for photo shooting, filming and special events. In the pictures above a famous brazilian actress, who is starring in the most popular tv soap opera, together with the hosts ZUZU & JAZ.
These pictures were taken by Marcelo Tabach and were published in the magazine "CONTIGO".

PILATES in our Wellness Space

Again thanks to Nilvo, we can now publish some images of our Wellness space here at Castelinho38.
Even if we had started different activities and services, such as yoga and stretching classes as well as acupuncture and shiatzu massage, at the moment our main wellness activity is PILATES.
The majority of the pupils are living in the neighbourhod of Santa Teresa, making the Castelinho38 the ideal meeting point for locals and visitors. We would like to thank the Pilates teacher CHRIS for all her effort and great sensibility to help us launching another great success of the season 2007.
Come along, practice fisical exercises, PILATES is perfect for all of us!
