Chave Mestra no C38

After more than a month of works, that forced C38 to close its doors, we finally had a nice gathering last saturday, when we hosted the exhibition " Aereas" part of the 2nd Chave Mestra integrated circuit. The artists Angelo Cuissi and Luis Ferreira presented in the new space of the gallery their works, photographs and sculpture/installation.

Chave Mestra, a collective of contemporary artists, is the organization in charge of the famous "Santa Teresa de Portas Abertas" - Open Doors Studios, that just happened in July.
Their schedule has also a good numbers of exibhitions and events that usally take place always in Santa Teresa.

Our first partnership together with Chave Mestra and the artists went really well, they had the support of Magnifica cachaca for the caipirinhas and Bar do Pimenta with some nice breads and snacks, in order to welcome the good number of visitors we had during the opening.

The galery is open to the public every day from 11h to 20h and the exihbition will stay untill the 21st of November. Check out also the other events of Chave Mestra, www.chavemestra.com.br

But we still have some work going on, so as one team cleans the other makes more dirt.

GAG - Global Art Group

In order to purchase some special tiles for the work in progress, C38 made a very quick visit in Sao Paulo last week and had the pleasure to meet some old friends.
In Vila Romana, rua Tito 79 a very charming warehouse is the Head Quarter of GAG (www.gag.art.br), a group of global artists which mainly comes from the theatre company Phila 7, who has been our guest during the autumn season.

The place itself is extraordinary, being an old design shop with hundreds of authentic chairs , tables and sofas, with an open space with palm trees and bright colors on the walls. Rubens Velloso and Marisa Riccitelli have been very kind in welcoming C38 and introduced the place and the people.

The feeling is of being in a factory of art and creativity, where from one room you can hear some music rehearsal, and from the other some serious talks about Mallu Magalhaes, the last brazilian young popstar. Gag concentrates them all: theatre, cinema, design, acting, lighting, music, video, dance, performances and a lot of great persons that are gathering there.

We hope to have some GAG members soon at C38, we ll always be ready to support their projects and have a good laugh with them. Sincere affection and respect from all C38

Details matter!!

Like Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, the German architect said "God is in the details".
If he is right, C38 is a holly place.
In order to follow the exigences we have been trying find a place that can duplicate the original peaces made of iron and wood.

After countless emails and phone calls we realize that nowadays still not easy to built like in the 19th century.
The major problem is the iron column from the porch. Measures 3.55 mt in casted iron
The unique shape and design make it even harder to reproduce this peaces.
But we hope that if a little divine help all the details ll be perfect by the end of the month.
