The Guest of the Month ( November)

Our guest of November 2008 is with no doubt: Manuel Vason, the nicest artist the we ever had in C38, who spent 3 weeks residence programme invited by the Panorama Festival of Contemporary Dance. Manuel is coming from Padova/Italy, but is a UK citizen being living in London for over 10 years now, where he graduated at St. Martin College with an MA in Fine Arts. Manuel’ fashination for the human body found its best manifestation
when associated with the notion of Performance. His work could be viewed as
series of studies on the possibilities of the human body’s expression.

We know for sure that the carioca experience at C38 had profoundly change Manuel point of view and we are expecting him to come back very soon. The friendship and mutual kindness between C38 team and Manuel made his stay very special. Check his web page to have a look of what the man is capable of: www.manuelvason.com

The Experience

There s no better place to discover nature, peace and stunning beaches around Rio de Janeiro than ILHA GRANDE. Most of our guest extend their stay on the island as once you get there it s always hard to leave. The Island Experience though is something even more elaborated and perfectly planned by a group of professionals that developed a weekly program of detoxication SPA.

The head quarter is on the "Enseada das estrelas", where easily you can meet sea stars or turtles in the calm and clear waters of the bay. The best corner to enjoy the beach is Praia da Camiranga, where a part from the locals it s hard to meet someone even during the high season.
C38 has been invited to spend a few days while our friends of The Island Experience were getting ready to receive 4 weeks SPA program in the row.

The best way to know more about the SPA and the Island Experience is to check out their webpage: www.theislandexperience.com . All we can say is that in short time they are now a reference for those interested in completely disconnect and reset their mind and spirit with the help of nature and its beauty and of course the experts of the team.

As best option for the guests of The Island Experience that are landing in Rio de Janeiro, many decide to stay with us at C38, probably because there is a strong connection between that people that run both activities and the calm and peacfull setting of both places. For those of you who coming, here there are some pictures of what is expecting you during The Experience

We d like to wish a very good season for the all team of The Island Experience and thanks again for the kind hospitality you are always providing to everyone. Castelinho38 is proud to be a partner of such an Experience..

Triunfo

Today s post want to present one of the most charming street in the neighborhood of Santa Teresa, Rua Triunfo, where we are. The road is about 300 meters long, on the top of the hill with great views on both sides.

There are superb mansions and houses in rua Triunfo, and even the most simpliest ones has its own style and carachter. In the past 3 years we have witnessed a great wave of constructions and renovation in all the street, which made of rua triunfo today one of the nicest place to be.

The Largo dos Guimaraes was called in the past Largo do Triunfo and it is connected with a ramp of stairs to rua triunfo. On the largo you can find a little supermarket, a cafe, newstand and buses and tram stops. There is also a small cinema and the information point.

We have very nice people living in rua triunfo and they are always welcome to visit us to have a coffee or a chat with us and our guests. The road is striclty residential and being closed to traffic make of it a very quite place.

Panorama Contemporary Dance Festival

It started the 31st of October the last edition of one of the best Dance Festival in this country, PANORAMA. This year there are various local and international attractions not to be missed. Have a look at the wide selections in the Festival Programme (www.panoramafestival.com).

Meanwhile we have to report the beautifull opening party we couldn t miss, on last thursday night, where even the busiest Artistic Director of the Festival and good friend Eduardo Bonito, couldn t hide a smile of his face. C38 supports Panorama since 2006 and through it we have been able to meet and host very special people that will remains in our minds and hearts for a long time.

GUESTS OF THE MONTH (October 08)

October has been a very special time for C38 and its staff. Due to the renovation work we had to close our doors for a few weeks and therefore had to cancel some of our reservations, lost our clients and the opportunity to meet them and take care of them.

Once we reopened (20th of october) to host a group of international philosopher who came for a simposium organized by Ufrj - Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, we still have to paint, fix, change and reorganize a lot of bits of pieces, so that some of our guests did not experienced the full C38 special treatment we use to give to everyone.

The title of Guest of the month this time goes to all of them that we were not able to host or treat accordingly, due to the work in progress.
