"Sheraton? No, thanks"

Tired of the unpersonal and cold hotels of Rio, one day Nicole was walking around Santa Teresa when suddenly, just by chance, the Castelinho appear on her way. She couldn´t tell us what was exactly what she felt, but she knew very clearly that this was the place for her. Maybe it was the wonderful view of our garden or maybe the charming smile of Samba. She didn´t know and neither did us. But the thing is that she returned to the place where she was staying -a very wellknow "luxury 5 star hotel"-, she packed all her things and some hours later Nicole was enjoying a cold -and sweet- caipirinha in the C38´s bar.

She stay in the Castelinho almost a week. Wherever she was, we always found a laugh, a smile or a hugh. She enjoyed talking with all of us, drinking coffee in the kitchen, sharing a pizza in the terrace or just sitting in the garden and describing us what was Chicago like. She didn´t care of the "waters of march", the wind or the storms. Instead, she prefered following the "steps" of Oscar Niemeyer in Rio. She went to the "Casa das Canoas" in São Conrado, a sample of sophisticated colonial Brazilian architecture, located in the heart of the Tijuca Forest -the world’s largest green reserve within urban perimeter-. And of course, she visited what she called her "Oscar´s Cathedral": the MAC in Niteroi.

There she is, walking like a beliver directly to heaven.....

Nicole, the whole Castelinho38 staff really miss you. We all send you a very big hugh!!!

Aguas de Março

Aguas de Março/ Waters of March is a famous song by Tom Jobim, singing about the usual rain during the month of March, the end of the summer here in Southern Emisphere...
It s seems like that after a very hot and dry summer the month of March will be particularly wet, during the last week in Rio we had rain almost everyday and the weather forecasts do not look so good for the following weeks.

It s always more and more difficult to predict the weather changes and when it is not raining temperatures are still over 30 degrees, but for those of you who are packing their bags on the way to the marvelous city, do not forget your rainy gears...

Coldplay in RIO

Last sunday at Sambodrome the tour "Viva la Vida" of COLDPLAY has arrived to performe for their brazilian fans. The arrival of the english band happened just when the hot summer of 40 degrees ended and temperatures dropped untill 19...a real coldplay for cariocas.

The brazilian tour has been organized by the production company Time for Fun, where our previous manager Fabio is now working. Despite the rain the show has been a success and the crowd enjoyed the band perfomance of 2h30. Rio is finally getting back to a world artistic and music circuit, so we really hope to see big names of music and art performing soon.
We didn t get to the show, the cheapest price was above 100 Euro..
