Message from San Francisco!

Dear Marco, Chris, Fabiana, Talise, Sebastian, and the rest of the staff at Castelinho 38,

I just wanted to say thank you for a wonderful stay at your guest house. I had a wonderful time in Rio and everyone at Castelinho 38 was very welcoming and helpful. Thank you all for everything.

I have been very sorry to hear about the terrible rains and flooding in Rio de Janeiro, and the landslides in the Santa Teresa area. I hope all of you are safe, and that the city will be back to normal soon.

I was very sad to leave Rio, and hope to come back soon. Thank you all again for everything.

All the best from San Francisco,

Ann

Eyjafjallajoekull and Botafogo!!!

Every little and tiny thing that surround us it's interconnected with the rest of the universe. We saw it once again this week...

A Volcano located more than 15.000 km from Rio, the Evjafjallajoekull , on Island made an eruption. The wind blew and all the ashes went to Europe. Some of the most important european airports were forced to close and suddenly, more than 17.000 flights were cancelled. One of that flights was an Air France which was supposed to take back home our guests Dominique and Phillipe.

So, forced by this situation, our guests had some extra-days on Rio. And what did they do? They looked forward to enjoy it the best way they could and they went to one of the most important secular football temples of the world: the Maracanã. There, they had the privilege to see how the Botafogo team defeated Flamengo on the final match of the Carioca's Cup. And all, thanks to the Evjafjallajoekull!!!
