Interview and photo shooting at C38

Castelinho38 had the honour to be choosen again for a special afternoon of photo shooting.
This time the spots and microphones were pointed towards the beautifull young actress Tamy Calafiori, now starring in Tv GLobo soap opera "Ciranda de Pedra".


The beauty of Tamy has left the C38s breathless...

Interviewed by Joao Bernardo Caldeira for the magazine "Isto E gente" and fotographed by Ana B. , Tamy felt immediately at home and while she was dressing up, she enjoyed our special coffee and admired the amazing view of our terrace. Thanks to all the equipe that shared with C38 staff a very special day.

Sailing in Rio

Castelinho38's members and friends have temporarily become part of Fim de Papo's crew.
Fim de Papo is a 29ft sail boat, anchored at Urca Yacht Club.
João Ponde the Captan, is a C38 good friend.
He donated the famous sails who dress our terrace in special events and parties, giving the whole house a special charm.


Those incursions through the Guanabara Bay give the opportunity of a different point of view from the city, that is even more beautiful seen from the water.
It's also interesting give a close look to the Rio-Niteroi's bridge and Copacabana's Fort, if it's your lucky day you might see the dolphins.


Tourists can also enjoy this experience with charter boats or in a quick ride across the bay with the old ferry boats that goes strait to Niteroi.
The best privilege besides hear the city noises far away is watch the sunset, sailing peacefully at Guanabara's Bay

Cuore tricolore

We ve been waiting for long time....and finally RIO is back into international football scene, our favorite team, greatest FLUMINENSE won the semifinal against argentine master BOCA JUNIOR and just qualified to the final for the Libertadores CUP.



Castelinho38 team ( Andre, Alice, Fabiana, Isaias )had the honour and pride to be part of the fantastic Torcida Tricolor, thanks also to the perfectly organized " Be a Local" staff.



The group included our friends, Gareth Chetwynd (BBC football expert ) and Pascal Philippe (former Bordeaux football player) together with a "last minute surprise" Valdir from one side.




And of course our last "Guests of the month for MAY" Benoit and Delphine wearing Fluminense uniforms, and part of the greatest vibes ever felt before at Maracana stadium completely Red, white and Green - tricolor!



The Fluminense flood/flag had cover the supporters of defending champion Boca Junior three times, recovering from 0 x 1 goal from giant striker Palermo at the beginning of the second half.
An incredible moment we all experienced was the Maracana singing the name of Fluminense just after they suffered the goal, even lauder than if they had score!



Thanks to torcida's chants and the young forwards DODO, who came in after the goal and participated to all crucial actions and scored the final third goal.
.....By that time RIO de Janeiro was celebrating even more than a carnival crazy night all over the city.



Today the Fluminense flag is shining from Castelinho38 window, and will be back to Maracana for the final decision versus LDU Quito (Equador) the 2nd of July.

Visiting a Coffee Plantation

Castelinho38 was part of a very well organized excursion recently that took us in south of Minas Gerais State. We went to discover a beautiful área called Zona da Mata together with a group of “baristas”, all graduated with Mestre Emilio Rodrigues at his prestigious “ Casa do Barista”



Our head quarter in Araponga hás been Pousada Serra d Água, a charming and simple structure located at the feet of Parque Estadual Serra do Brigadeiro, recentely open State park at 1300 mts. of altitude.



Ronaldo and his little daughter Paloma were the perfect hosts and the local specilities from the kitchen have been seriously responsible for our extra Kilos at the end of the week end.



The Mattos family at Fazenda Brauna in Ervalia district, have won the last Illy Award for the Best Coffee in Brazil. Their property hás more than 100 years of tradition in the coffee sector and João explained to us the all process from the planting to the roasting of the “green gold”, as the coffee is known.



José Antonio Bittencourt Soares, hás been our guide in the Park the next day, while we all were riding his horses, from a Cabana Aldeia da Vida and discovered the beautiful trails and waterfalls of Brigadeiro Park.



Zé Antonio had a special cachaça and fantastic stories to share with us during the horse ride, even if it didn t help our “bump” from hurting.



Thanks to all the partners for the great time we all had in Minas Gerais, a very authentic and original destination we are going to recommand to all our guests.

Roda de Choro

WEDNESDAY 21st MAY, Castelinho38 will host a fantastic group of american musicians and many special "local" guests. Thanks to Mike Marshall, our Guest of the month in december 2007, who is now coming back in Rio with fellows musicians and lovers of CHORO music, C38 will be the only date they will be performing in their visit in RIo.Castelinho38 is proud to present this fabulous event, which most likely will be one of the top of the year....hope you don t miss it.

HBO Latin America

Another TV crew knocked on Castelinho38' doors, as again resulted to be the perfect location for a TV series broadcasted by HBO Latin America. The director Pablo Masover, the cameraman Juanito + assistant Juanote, arrived from Buenos Aires, while the producer Liara Castro, together with the actress and makeup were coming from Brazil.
The tv-documentaries have been filmed before in Buenos Aires, Lima, Santiago, Bogota and Sao Paulo.
They all enjoyed C38 and promised to come back on holiday or to shot again the next project.

Flying with Castelinho38

Robert Hoskins wanted to reach the sky... at least be closest possible. However, he didn’t want to be in an average sky, looking at an average view… he wanted to be in a special place, and what else can be more special than Rio de Janeiro.
The sale manager of Tetra Park Co. in Chicago arrived Castelinho38 with the will to rest, leave his job behind for while, looking for adventure and to get all that he could take from Rio in his short staying here....we are sure he made it!.
Castelinho38 wish you the best Robert and we do hope see you soon and good flights...

Amor e Intrigas

It will be braodcasted today after the national TV news, at 20h30 on channel 13 - Rede Record, the new NOVELA called " Amor e Intrigas". The soap opera tells the story of ALICE who has left the familiy in a small town inland in Minas Gerais to come to live in RIO. Alice - the main feminine character - is going to settle in Santa Teresa, at "Pensao da Celeste".



In reality this place is CASTELINHO38, who has land its beautifully and recently restyled facade to Rede Record in order to cover all the external shooting for the Novela.



Our Guests and staff became now aquainted to the running around of people, actors, cameras and lights. And probably for some of them it is even an amazing story to tell back home as all has to cross the spotlights and the strick control in order to leave or to get into the Castelinho38.



We are all very curious to see how C38 looks like on TV, and finally from tonight, for at least the next 8 months, we will be on the screens of millions of brazilians daily.....what a responsability..yes, but we are ready to SHINE!!!

Aprazivel Cooking Experience

Castelinho38 has been kindly invited to partecipate(together with Solar de Santa, Marriot Hotels, Sofitel RIO and Ipanema Plaza) to a freshly new Cultural Experience perfectly organized by Marcio Macedo, founder and director of CURUMIM ECO CULTURAL TOURS (www.curumim.tur.br)



The Cooking Experience starts in the morning with a visit to one of Rio's typical feiras - open markets.. Along with the pleasure of choosing some of the ingredients that will be part of the meal, the colorful scenery and the exuberant tastes and smells are part of this experience.



We then arrived in Santa Teresa where Aprazível, one of the most charming and best regarded restaurants in Rio de Janeiro, is located.



A wine and a cachaça cellar and an open and inviting kitchen set the stage for a unique Brazilian culinary experience. There are 3 courses - appetizer, main dish and desert - that are prepared using recipes from the many different regions in the country and that represent the rich influence of Indians, Africans and Europeans, ethnical components of the Brazilian cuisine.



During the meal all of the recipe's details, preparation tips and the history of each dish are candidly presented by the chef and enthusiasts are encouraged to participate.

CASTELINHO38 is a perfect location for photo shooting, filming and special events. In the pictures above a famous brazilian actress, who is starring in the most popular tv soap opera, together with the hosts ZUZU & JAZ.
These pictures were taken by Marcelo Tabach and were published in the magazine "CONTIGO".

PILATES in our Wellness Space

Again thanks to Nilvo, we can now publish some images of our Wellness space here at Castelinho38.
Even if we had started different activities and services, such as yoga and stretching classes as well as acupuncture and shiatzu massage, at the moment our main wellness activity is PILATES.
The majority of the pupils are living in the neighbourhod of Santa Teresa, making the Castelinho38 the ideal meeting point for locals and visitors. We would like to thank the Pilates teacher CHRIS for all her effort and great sensibility to help us launching another great success of the season 2007.
Come along, practice fisical exercises, PILATES is perfect for all of us!

Ratatouille38

We have a new expert in the kitchen ,TADEO, who found inspiration in the movie " Ratatouille", and this is the result of today's bakery at CASTELINHO38.

Of course this would not have been possible without the SISTERS' precious help, ALINE & ARIANA who have just graduated themselves in the Assistant Chef course, lectured by our maitre MARIEL and always assisted by ALICE.

Thanks to all of you for your great efforts and results, our guest do appreciate the love you give into the food.

Home made integral breads, cookies, cakes, flans, yogurths, pizzas, special meals, salads, fruit juices and all the other specialities offered to our guests are here to prove it.
