Mostra Corpos No Castelinho38



Na ultima sexta, 15 de agosto,o Castelinho38 recebeu muitos amigos e convidados para prestigiar as obras dos artistas Daniela Antonelli e Mario Vitor.(http://danimario.carbonmade.com//)




Corpos reúne uma série de sessenta fotogravuras. Tudo feito a partir do trabalho de fotopinturas da designer gráfica Daniela Antonelli e das ilustrações e fotografias de Mario Vitor. O fio condutor é o corpo humano, que foi o principal objeto de estudo da dupla.



A mostra estara aberta ao publico de terca a domingo das 11hs ate 20hs, e vai ficar em cartaz ate dia 14 de setembro. Alem das fotogravuras, tem uma video projecao ilustrando o trabalho partindo das fotos do Mario que mostram os varios angulos do corpo da Antonella, que intervem em cima das fotos, criando uns efeitos de cores e lineas que vale a pena ver ao vivo.



Os artistas trabalharam muito para deixar a montagem da exposicao perfeita e estao de parabens pelo lindo resultado, a presenca em massa e as criticas positivas dos convidados confirmaram ainda mais o sucesso da noite.



Os convidados poderam se misturar aos hospedes e amigos do C38, no terrace-bar sob uma noite de lua quase cheia e temperatura de verao. A equipe toda do C38 agradece mais uma vez Mario e Antonella e convida todos para conhecer esse bellissimo trabalho!!

Puppies RR38

Castelinho38 best friends had multiplied themselves!!! Our lovely Rhodesian Ridgebacks Jazz and Zuzu, became parents for the second time. ( Last year at the end of march they had 7 wonderful puppies)



The previous saturday, 5th of July, Zuzu gave birth to 8 incredibles little ones...being 7 of them males and only one girl.
At the moment we are taking good care of them not far from C38, as otherwise we couldn t give enough attention to our guests anymore, but as they will be 45 days old they probably will settle in our garden until we ll find them a new family.



Rhodesian Ridgeback is not a very common breed in Brasil, their origin is South Africa and they are great dogs, for company, children and house watching. Jazz & Zuzu are both pedigree certified dogs from very good breeders and lines blood.
If anyone is interested... They should be ready to leave the mother by the beginning of september.

Arte de Portas Abertas

Last week-end, our lovely neighbourhood Santa Teresa celebrates its annual Art Festival “ Arte de Portas Abertas”, where all the restaurants, ateliers, galleries and shops take part of a Opened Circuit which gather thousands of visitors every year.



For the very first time C38 was officially part of this Festival, that among the official programme has hundreds of events, music happening and interesting spots to be discovered. We had been indicated as one of the Cultural Centres, because of the Collective Exhibition that took place in our beautiful and just refurbished main Hall, which has been already named by someone Galeria38.



We had especially prepared some creamy Brazilian Hot Soup, served with freshly baked bread and tasty cakes and pies, together with our delicious Capuccinos and Expresso Coffees. The lovely weather and good vibes have been our special guests for the weekend together with the usual friends of Santa Teresa and hundreds of new visitors that had discovered our artists and privileged place for the first time.



We d like to introduce to you one of the most interesting Exhibition we had hosted so far, which gather our friends Andrea Rausch, Eduardo Amado, Fernando SImoes and Peter Mirow together with French and almost Brazilian Pacal “Zouloup” who has a great hand and hability in the kitchen, we had the chance to experienced on Sunday. One of our next post will be dedicated to present you better their different works and technics.




We would like to present here and send our GRAZIE the other partners and friends we have invited for this special events at C38 CICLOAMBIENTAL and Isabele Delgado presented their new winter collection 2008 of original and ecologic clothes made of recycled Pet materials, FUTON with Eduardo and Virginia presenting their wide range of Bio-comfiest tatamis, futons and cushions. On Sunday we had the honour to host a stand of AZULEJARIA and the ladies, Laura, Marcia, Solange e Paola responsible for the nicest tiles – art in Brazil. Last but not least the special Brecho of vintage female second hand clothes that probably will become a monthly appointment of C38.

The C38's camp fire

C38 has invited his friends to celebrate São João's (Saint John) day (24/06)with the usual camp fire.
This kind of party happens all over Brazil during June.
Unfortunately the rain ruined our plans but didn't stop us.
The celebrations was rescheduled for the 26th. Saint Pellagio's day.(who is that guy?)


Anyway, It was a cold beautiful night.
The fire helped to warm all of us, and besides we also had the cachaça and the Quentão, hot wine with spices.


But there are no Festa Junina without a good Cangica, corn cake, paçoca and caldo de feijao. We had them all.....yummy

Associaçao Pedagógica Ciranda

Castelinho38 foi invadido pelas crianças neste último sábado.
O evento que foi uma parceria entre C38 e a Associaçao Pedagógica Ciranda; fundamentada na Pedagogia Waldorf, a APC está divulgando o seu trabalho para que mais famílias de Santa Teresa possam se beneficiar desse especial jeito de lidar com o desenvolvimento infantil e com a valorização do livre brincar das crianças pequenas, através da administração coletiva de um Jardim de Infância Waldorf.


Os pais e mães que assumiram a tarefa de dirigir a associação estão a procura de uma nova sede para a continuidade do atendimento do Jardim de Infância Ciranda aqui em Santa Teresa. O evento contou com um espaço especialmente arrumado pelos associados para o a brincar infantil, aonde objetos e materiais recriaram o ambiente de um Jardim para infãncia Waldorf.
Para os adultos presentes teve oficina de pães que impregnou todo ambiente com aquele cheirinho gostoso , bazar e a cafeteria que além de cafés e cappuccinos serviu também doces e salgados feito pelos próprios associados .


O fim de tarde ainda foi animado com o agradavel som de flauta de Mariana Zwarg e do violino de Renata Neves , também moradoras de Santa Teresa, integrantes da Itiberê Orquestra Família.Outros eventos como esse serão futuramente organizados pela APC.Aguardem!


A equipe C38 e os membros Associação Pedagógica Ciranda agradecem a todos os presentes e deseja um amplo futuro para essa bonita iniciativa dos moradores do nosso bairro.

Mike Marshall and friends

Our former GUEST OF THE MONTH (December) Mike Marshall also known as a great mandolin master is back to Brasil.

He and many others musicians all "Choro" lovers played at Castelinho this wednesday night in a memorable event.





A magical and beautiful night where C38 friends and guests experienced a truly Brazilian roda de choro leaded by Joel and Mike

About 100 people passed by to appreciate this unplugged session.

Our friends from Tumbao do Malevo, Yuri and Santiago were also here providing the catering service.





Great music, nice food, cold caipirinhas and a incredible view,.......Couldn' t be better!!!

The Famous Cousin

By now everybody should know that Castelinho38 is supporting ART in all its expressions and our gallery is always open for a visit, but probably most of you ignore that we have a very special and famous cousin.



Marcos Chaves is today, together with other few, the Contemporary Artist representing Brazil all over the world, and last time we have met Marcos in Paris, just coming back from his Madrid and Lisbon opening. But as normally happens, here at home it is rare to see his works, even though we heard he s been busy in Sao Paulo lately.



So finally the day has come at OI FUTURO and Castelinho38 was there at his opening last saturday in a very crowded and special night. The name of the exhibition is E' DA SUA NATUREZA( It s of its nature) and we strongly recommend you to visit it until the 29th of June, from tuesday to sunday 11h to 20hs.



Of course we are not going to tell you what is it about but from the pictures in this post and the title of the expo you can understand by yourself it s about nature. More specifically it s the nature through Marcos eye and its sometimes funny way of representing itself



It s important to say that we are not at all Art experts and to tell you the truth were a bit nervous to write about such an important and very well known artist. But then we realized that Marcos Chaves is a great character and our "famous" cousin as well, so we are pretty sure he won't mind us taking him as an example.



Mr Chaves was born and bread in Santa Teresa and we are still hoping one day, in between Basel and Rome, to have him and his works in our little gallery....you never know, be sure we are already working on it.

Dila Vidal Vernissage

We have recently seen Dila Vidal art works at CCC (Centro Cultural Carioca)in Rio de Janeiro Downtown. Immediately thought that her colourful works would have been perfect in our main Hall, and finally we are proud to announce and invite you all for this coming saturday Art Exhibition OPENING.



Here a brief presentation of the artist by herself:

"Dila Vidal é artista plástica,colorista,carioca de 1966.
Insistente auto didata,há alguns anos se dedica principalmente a espalhar cores em acrilica sobre tela.
Sua arte habita já inúmeras paredes em todo brasil e no exterior,
tendo já exposto em Espanha e Portugal."

Grand Premier

After more than one month of hard work, lots of liters of coffee and thousands of cigarettes the big day has arrived, and C38 members were there to support.

The spectacle started at 19:00h of saturday night at Oi futuro theater.

"What's wrong with the word" is a very dynamic, intriguing and all most experimental presentation.



The show mix action,projections, confused dialogs and video conference, stretching the limits of a simple stage.

The story is performed simultaneously in Rio and London at Soho Theater

42% of the action happens in the stage, 37% on the screen and 64% in the mind of the audience ( I told you it was confused!!!)

After the premier a small cocktail for friends and guests happened at Oi Futuro cafeteria to celebrate and calm down the nerves of the first day

Theatre rehearsals

As the big day of the show opening is getting closer, our friends of Phila7 Theatre Company are having a full immersion in their work, sharing their time between our bar presidential Table, the main hall and the garden table.



Castelinho38 has become their second house and we have become really close friends, so let me introduce them to you, starting from the director Rubens Velloso, the actors Marcos Azevedo, Beto Matos and Luciana Froes. Marisa Riccitelli who is taking care of the all production, together with some local help.
The technicians: Marcello Viannini head of all tech gang, Mirella Brandi is responsible for the lights, Rodrigo Gontijo is in charge of the video, Diego Casas is the cameraman and Theo Grahl is coordinating everything.



Their rehearsals in the main hall ve been really interesting to see, as together with the actors on stage, the technicians were also there in order to finalize the camera s angles and shots.



It s important to say that this show is the continuation of the " Play on earth" show, which started in 2006 and has linked different stages and actors with the new internet technology.



If you happpen to be in London next week do not forget to step in the Soho Theatre where you ll be able to watch live the Brazilian show on 2 big screens.
As for us here at C38, you ll find us among the audience on the 19 of April, OI Futuro Theatre @ Flamengo, Rio de Janeiro.

Arte toma conta de Santa Teresa!

Santa Teresa está em pleno agito cultural. Exposições, recitais, música... é a arte tomando conta do bairro.
Todo ano, na época da Páscoa, acontece a Semana Cultural de Santa Teresa. Durante o evento, que está na sua quinta edição e acontece entre os dias 18 e 31 de março, estão programadas diversas atividades como encenação teatral, intervenções artísticas pelas ruas e bares, poesia-recitas, além de várias exposições fotográficas.
E claro que o Castelinho38, como apreciador da bela arte, não ficou de fora do evento. Em nosso salão principal está a exposição “Carnavália”, da fotógrafa Kelly Lima.





A mostra reúne 20 trabalhos desta artista que há mais de cinco anos dedica-se ao carnaval carioca, trabalho documental desenvolvido junto a festas populares. Este ano a fotógrafa se voltou para captar as texturas, gestuais, caras e bocas da Marques de Sapucaí.

A abertura da exposição aconteceu na última sexta-feira, dia 21, e contou com o apoio da Cachaçaria Magnífica. Tivemos muitos visitantes e amigos prestigiando o evento.

Festa de boas vindas à 2008

O Castelinho38 começou 2008 com o pé direito.
Logo na primeira semana tivemos a inauguração da exposição ‘da figura ou quase’ e no último sábado, dia 12, reunimos aproximadamente 400 pessoas para mais uma festa.
O forte calor do dia serviu como um tempero especial.....
Animação, gente bonita, pizzas deliciosas, bebida gelada e música, muita música. Este foi o tom da noite, que também celebrava o início da construção do barco do nosso amigo Peter Mirow.
A festa foi comandada pela DJ Marie L (Berlim) e nos intervalos entraram em cena os MC’s Opala e CM (Chokito Maligno), além dos DJ’s Dom Pedro e Dudu.
Embalados pelas batidas eletrônicas e ritmos nacionais, muitos viram o sol nascer do terraço do castelinho as 6 da manha quando a festa terminou.

Vernissage "da figura ou quase"

Dia 05 de janeiro tivemos a abertura da exposição ‘da figura ou quase’. Nem a forte chuva que caiu durante a noite espantou os convidados.
A mostra reúne o trabalho de dez artistas, incluindo duas gerações de pintores que sempre se mantiveram, de uma forma ou outra, no entorno da figuração.
Os modos de se aproximar da figura são, naturalmente, muito variados, há todo um distanciamento evidente de uma obra conceitual de Jorge Duarte e há a pintura como labuta, o progresso do dia a dia, como em Juliano Guilherme.
É um apanhado bastante interessante de obras de pessoas inseridas em diferentes tempos e espaços, mostrando pinturas feitas em diferentes estágios na carreira dos artistas, certamente algumas obras têm sua única oportunidade de exibição.

We Smell Nice -Part II

Castelinho38, normally an oasis of calm, was temporarily transformed into one of Rios most happening club scenes. Here the crowd dances to the pulsating beats of our DJs, Mary Byker, Doug Gray.



We're pretty convinced DJing is the coolest job out there. Here's Mary Byker, rocking the disks, entrancing our guests and having a fabulous birthday. Castelinho38 is lucky to have such fun-loving talented friends! Thanks again, Mary!

THE PARTY - WE SMELL NICE

On December 22nd, while Santa and his elves were working like dogs to finish the last touches on all those presents, Castelinho38 threw the biggest and best party we've had yet!
Our friendly staff rolled out the red carpet and invited friends and family to celebrate the birthdays of Mary Byker, Marcos Chaves and the one year anniversary of Castelinho38 itself.
The party was such a success. We had more than 500 people, and the Dj's played till 6AM
It was impossible to leave with the incredible music, visual effects, wonderful company, delicious snacks, and breath-taking view. The night started off with DJ Plinio Profeta, famous Brazilian DJ and producer who has won a Latin American Grammy for his many musical works. After that our friends Mary Byker and Doug Gray, who have played at our parties before, came this time with the You Smell Nice project and entranced the crowd with their eclectic mix of modern electronic beats and hypnotic melodies.
Our feet are still sore from all that dancing! When we were too tired to dance, we feasted on feijao, traditional Brazilian bean stew, and sandwiches, drank delicious caipirinhas, and marvelled at the stunning visual effects provided by Rodrigo Magalhaes.

We are glad everyone had such a great time, and look forward to many more fun events in the future. Thanks again to everyone who made the party such a fabulous success!

Domingo no Castelinho38

O projeto INTEGRAL[ação + espaço + linguagem], idealizado pelos artistas Alê Souto, Fernanda Antoun e Alex Topini, e realizado em parceria com o Castelinho 38, chega ao fim da sua primeira edição no dia 21 de outubro, próximo domingo, a partir das 17h.

Para o encerramento, INTEGRAL apresenta, além dos trabalhos de fotografia, pintura e instalação que se encontram expostos, as performances Patchwork de Raphael Couto, Ao Livro de Mágoas, com Fran Junqueira, André Rodrigues e Amanda Bolsas, e Per.Formando, com o grupo 13 Numa Noite. A música fica por conta do projeto Nintendo Diablo, dos djs André Amaral, Icarodátilus e Ricardo Diversi.

Na sala de bem-estar acontece a Mostra INTEGRAL de Vídeos. Reunindo parte da produção atual de artistas visuais e videoartistas, a Mostra, com aproximadamente uma hora, será exibida em looping durante todo o evento, com trabalhos de Alan Rodrigues, Alexandre Sá, Amélia Sampaio, André Sheik, Analu Cunha, Bruno de Carvalho, Célio Jr., Christian Caselli, Cleantho Viana, Cristina Amiran, , Daniela Mattos, Fabiane Borges, Fabio Assuf, Felipe Cataldo, Giordani Maia, Godot Quincas, José de Campos, Khalil Charif, Moana Mayall, Opavivará, Paulo Anomaz, Renata Than, Tato Teixeira e Vandir Govêa.

Artes em setembro

O Castelinho38 apresenta, no dia 21 de setembro, a partir das 19h o evento Integral, idealizado pelos fotógrafos e artistas-plásticos Fernanda Antoun, Alex Topini e Alê Souto.

Integral é:
...a arte integrada ao espaço, o espaço integrado ao tempo, o tempo integrado ao movimento, o movimento integrado à voz, a voz integrada à arte, e de novo a arte integrando tudo e todos, pessoas, coisas, acontecimentos...

Na garagem, Alê Souto apresenta a sua instalação “Desmanche ao Leo”, onde se apropria do fusca LEO6149, de Fernanda e Alex, cobrindo-o de papelão. O artista também apresenta, no salão principal, três telas da série “Desmanche”, sobre as mesmas bases conceituais.

Fernanda Antoun expõe, no salão principal, fotografias do seu projeto “Ir e Vir”, concebidas com a utilização de câmeras arcaicas de pequeno e médio formato, câmeras de brinquedo e lentes de plástico, conjugando o lúdico e o experimental no ato de captura das imagens.

Alex topini, também no salão principal, apresenta “Cubos”. Delineados a partir da irradiação luminosa de monitores, telas e displays de aparelhos eletrônicos de mídia, o trabalho fotográfico discute a redefinição das noções de tempo e espaço expressos no desejo de interatividade tridimensional e sensorial como os meios de comunicação na cultura contemporânea.

Na área externa, junto ao bar, a banda Mysticow apresentará músicas de seu primeiro cd, “The Milk Way”. Com uma proposta instrumental, a banda busca, através da concatenação de sons e gêneros musicais, uma síntese sonora pautada na sensação de estranheza, que possa gerar sentimentos como angústia, calma, raiva e felicidade.

No Espaço bem-estar será apresentada a 1ª Mostra Integral de Vídeos, com os artistas Alexandre Sá, Amélia Sampaio e Daniela Mattos. A mostra terá aproximadamente uma hora e será exibida em looping durante todo o evento.

Na escadaria de acesso ao Castelinho38, bem como em outros pontos-surpresa do espaço, Pilar Rocha e Bia Pimenta realizarão a performance “Perfis Provisórios”. Figuras humanas são fixadas com gesso e, num instante seguinte, deixarão suas formas vazias como vestígios da ação no espaço.

Portas abertas no Castelinho38

Uma vez por ano, Santa Teresa torna-se o cenário de um evento imperdível no Rio de Janeiro: o “Artes de Portas Abertas”, criado pela artista Clara Artaud e a ONG Viva Santa, em 1995. Hoje, a idéia está consolidada e a organização é dos próprios artistas, através da Chave Mestra (Associação dos Artistas Visuais de Santa Teresa). São muitos os ateliês abertos para a visitação dos apreciadores de artes plásticas, em geral. É um momento único, pois o bairro fica repleto de visitantes e muitos moradores aproveitam a ocasião para abrir suas portas e janelas. O Castelinho abriu o proprio espacio pelos artistas:

CIDADE INVADIDA : UM PROJETO ITINERANTE ENTRE BRASIL E ESPANHA

Arte e djs no Castelinho

A exposição dos artistas de Santa Teresa Ducha, Fernando Reis, Adriano Melhem e Alejandre Vogler e Arjan foi seguida da apresentação do documentário de Ben Holman “ Luta pela Paz”. A festa continuou com as sessões de musica dos DJ ingleses Mr Hej, Gereth, Mary Biker e Dug. Nessa ocasião, o Castelinho38 recebeu mais de 500 pessoas: locais de Santa Teresa, cariocas, artistas e muitas pessoas ecléticas e de varias nacionalidades que curtirão a festa até madrugada e ficarão encantados com o lugar. Esperamos a próxima!

Eventos

Há um ano que o castelinho38 está funcionando e muitos eventos já aconteceram ali. De fato, o Castelinho38 tem uma relação muito forte com todos os tipos de arte e cultura. Grupos de teatro, fotógrafos, artistas e músicos já ficaram, atuaram e tocaram no Castelinho38. Um exemplo foi a exposição coletiva que aconteceu no dia 26 de maio. Os artistas de Santa Teresa - Ducha, Fernando Reis, Adriano Melhem e Alejandre Vogler, assim como o curador Arjan - apresentaram algumas obras especialmente selecionadas para essa ocasião.
Foi um sucesso, parabéns para todos!
