World Urban Forum V

During the World Urban Forum V, which take place in Rio de Janeiro last week, the Castelinho38 had the honor to host several of the professors, urbanists, journalists and arquitechts whom were invited to participate to this important international conference. The Forum was established by the United Nations to examine one of the most pressing problems facing the world today: rapid urbanization and its impact on communities, cities, economies, climate change and policies.

Sao Paulo ONG Polis has used C38 as head quarter for their "Partners Meeting", it has been a great pleasure to have them all here during that week.

Domingo de capoeira no Castelinho38!

Domingo foi dia de capoeira no nosso jardim!

Muito axé, energia positiva e acarajés - evento Kunta Kinte - exposição de fotos de capoeira, roda de Capoeira, Maculelê e Jongo.

A Associação Cultural Kunta Kinte, é formado por um grupo de voluntários e desenvolve, um trabalho de inclusão social para crianças, jovens e adultos, moradores do bairro de Santa Teresa. Sua principal atividade são a Capoeira, Circo, Dança Afro, Maculelê, e Jongo.

Participação especial do Axé de Angela, nossa baiana do Acarajé e Nona Roberta

Prezados amigos!

estao todos convidados para a abertura da exposição "Capoeira e Fotografia Kunta Kinte", que será realizado no dia 28.03.2010. O evento tem como finalidade divulgar e apoiar o trabalho do grupo Kunta Kinte, liderado pelo único mestre de capoeira cego do Brasil, Mestre João Kanoa (que estará presente).

O evento apresentará (e venderá) as fotografias do fotógrafo Otto Vay (parte da receita será doada ao grupo), e para animar teremos roda de capoeira, dança afro e jongo. O bar dp Castelinho 38 estará aberto, comidinhas tipicas serao servidas...Do not MISS it !!

The Castelinho38 have the pleasure to invite you the saturday 20th to the Feijoada that the TriFiGui association will offer. The event will count with the presence of the Whiffenpoofs, the world's oldest and best-known collegiate a cappella group, of Yale University.


The event will be limit for 80 people, so hurry, don´t miss this opportunity to hear the world famous group of Yale, while enjoying the most famous typicall brasilian dish.

Mangueira estacao primeira..the first samba school of Rio, saturday night rehearsal is a must for those who d like to have a little taste of Carnival, and also to see a real community get together..

Panorama 09

Panorama Contemporary Dance Festival started last night its 18th edition with a great show of the Ballet de Lorraine in Joao Caetano Theatre, downtown in Rio.
This festival is bringing the best of the contemporary dance scene and improving each year in terms of professionalism of the organization and quality of the shows.


As an intervention in the city, Panorama confirms to be a festival for all audiences that goes to places where dance usually does not, like the North and West Zones and the neighbor cities. More than 30 attractions in 11 days, a marathon that is already part of the cultural calendar of Rio.


Directors Edu Bonito e Nayse Lopez and all the staff did again a great job, congratulation and all the support from C38!

Melissa in Santa

A Melissa comemora 30 anos do lançamento de seu modelo Aranha original e abriu ontem, 27 de outubro, a exposição Melissa Eu!, no casarão do SOLAR REAL aqui em Santa Teresa- Rio, com vista para a Baía de Guanabara e o Pão de Açúcar ao fundo.


As cerca de 500 criações em plástico já produzidas pela marca fazem parte do repertório de moda e aparecem em inúmeras colaborações com incensados estilistas nacionais e internacionais, para recordar os muitos pontos altos de sua trajetória até hoje.


Um calendário paralelo de palestras e encontros anima ainda mais a celebração, abordando elementos essenciais do universo Melissa, como a estética, a publicidade, arte contemporânea em geral e sua forte presença na moda. A mostra tem ainda um espaço especial dedicado ao primeiro perfume da grife, que chega às lojas em novembro.


A direção criativa do projeto é da jornalista Erika Palomino, consultora da marca, com curadoria de Maria Montero e Consuelo Montero e a cenográfica iluminação de Maneco Quinderé. Melissa Eu! fica aberta para visitação do público entre 28 de outubro a 15 de novembro.


Durante a mostra, será apresentado o novo modelo assinado por Jean Paul Gaultier. A primeira peça criada pelo estilista, entre 1982 e 1983, será relembrada em uma retrospectiva do modelos-ícone da marca. Entre eles estarão sandálias criadas por Vivienne Westwood, Thierry Mugler, Zaha Hadid, Karim Rashid, Alexandre Herchcovitch, Isabela Capeto e irmãos Campana, além de fotos e vídeos.

Yapolinos 1st birthday Bbq

Little Rafael, also known as "Yapolo", celebrate his first birthday the 3rd of October, with an authentic brazilian Barbeque, in his new house here in the neighborhood of Santa Teresa.

"Yapolo" just moved to Rio de Janeiro (recently named for 2016 Olympics Games, just to remark it again),with his all family from London, where he was born last year.

Together with them Nonno Giorgio and Nonna Pia came for their second visit in the "marvelous city", where they left a lot of good memories, especially at Castelinho38 during its first steps in 2006.


Special guests of the event Elisa and Mauricio, the sweetest neighbors together with their sons and the real gaucho Nilvo, visiting from Nairobi-Kenya, with his family.


C38 is officially welcomeing in Rio de Janeiro Rafeal and his family and wishes all the best in their new life, in our new lives. Yip Yip Hurra for Yapolino and thanks to all the family for the fantastic afternoon and the delicious meat!
