From Tom Jobim International Airport to Castelinho38 is about 30 minutes by Taxi. The main reference point is the area known as Glória, which is directly below Santa Teresa. From Glória there are two roads that go up, Cândido Mendes or Santa Cristina; at the end of the climb, when you reach the tramlines, turn left. Go through Largo do Guimarães and turn first right after Bar do Mineiro, onto Rua Triunfo. Pass the security cabin and follow the road round to no. 38.
From the centre of the city the easiest way to get there is to take the tram from Carioca. Alternatively you can take bus number 214A, from the Carioca Metrô station to Santa Teresa.
